Workshops and Equipment
Each workshop you take earns you certifcation on a piece of production equipment. Each class is listed below:

Intro to Camera
Certification: GS400 camcorder
In this class you'll learn how to operate CCTV's entry-level camcorder, the Panasonic GS400. We also cover basic shooting techniques, audio recording, using a tripod, and more. This is a great class to start with!

Advanced Camera
Certification: DVX100 camcorder
Prerequisite: Intro to Camera
The Panasonic DVX100 is a unique MiniDV 3-CCD camcorder that has proven itself in countless broadcast and cable productions around the world.
It features a wider lens than the GS400 and is much more sensitive to light. For those shooting a cinema-style project, this camera can record in a 30p "progressive-scan" mode that looks very much like film.
The class covers operation of the camera, including all manual control features. We also cover advanced audio recording: mics, mixers, and more. When completed you will be certified on all equipment covered in the class.

Intro to Editing
Certification: Final Cut Pro edit stations
Every producer will need to do some editing to complete a program. Learn to turn source materials - including video, music, titles, graphics - into a finished program.
This class is designed to train beginners who have never edited, but you should already possess basic computer skills: if you have never used a computer or believe that you are "computer illiterate", let the staff know before signing up for Intro to Editing.
Class includes two days of workshops plus a one-on-one training session to complete your certification. During the course of the class you will create a short CCTV promo or other project; select projects will be featured as part of TRONGuide TV on CCTV channel 22.

Studio Production
Certification: Live production studio
Many program formats are best when recorded in a studio environment. Talk shows, music programs, and live call-in programs can be produced in CCTV's live production studio.
Studio production is a team sport and you'll learn all the positions in this five-part class. Learn to operate studio cameras, mix audio, direct, create graphics, light a set, and much more. The class will complete several studio programs which may be featured as part of TRONGuide TV on CCTV channel 22.

Multi-Cam Field Production
Certification: Tricaster Field Kit
Prerequisite: Advanced Camera
Recording a live-switched event in the field with multiple cameras is a task requiring advanced skills and an experienced crew. After you've taken Intro to Camera and Advanced Camera you'll be eligible to take this two-part class. We also recommend taking Studio Production and volunteering on CCTV's truck productions to gain valuable multi-cam experience.
Students earn certification on CCTV's Tricaster Kit, which includes Panasonic cameras, switching computer, audio mixer, professional DV recording deck, intercom system, and everything you'll need to get it hooked up and ready to record.
To take the Tricaster out you will need a crew, and that crew must be CCTV certified. It is highly recommended that you start getting your crew involved as soon as possible if you are aspiring to multi-cam production!
