Vision 2020 Spring Forum Open House

Have you ever wondered what Salem’s downtown will look like in the future? A group of key employers in the city’s center wondered that very thing. Out of their question grew Vision 2020: the project with a revitalized and vibrant Salem downtown its goal. The diverse group composing the Vision 2020 team include such organization as the Salem Hospital, Willamette University, Go Downtown Salem!, Salem Art Smart, Marion County, the State and the City among other members.

There are five over-arching themes which the projects aims to address: Creating gathering and living areas, preserving and enhancing special aspects of the city, creating an exciting and lively destination, increasing transportation options and improving park connections.

Since its inception, Vision 2020 members have created various formats and avenues to gather community input, including surveys and community forums. The first forum was in December of 2007, with a subsequent forum in March of 2008 and the latest on the 31st of March of this year.
