Willamette Master Chorus
The Willamette Master Chorus, the mid-valley’s auditioned choral ensemble now in its 25th year, comprises 75 veteran professional and dedicated amateur musicians. Founded in 1984 through a joint effort of Lutheran Fine Art Center and Willamette University, the chorus brings to area audiences the finest in choral masterworks from the Renaissance through the 21st century.

Headed by Dr. Paul Klemme, the Willamette Master Chorus has performed with the Salem Chamber Orchestra, Oregon Symphony, and Portland Youth Philharmonic. National and international performances include a three-nation tour in Europe, San Francisco, and most recently as the choir-in-residence for the International cathedral Music Festival in Salisbury, England.

A non-profit, the Willamette Master Chorus offers numerous volunteer opportunities to assist in its mission. “We want to be able to do these works at their highest level,” says board member and choir tenor Ron Peters, “to offer that to the community, to educate the community and educate the younger groups that are coming up; to let them experience and understand what amazing music this is.” Each year the WMC gives a local school choir a chance to rehearse and perform with the chorus. The 2009 showcase school is Western Mennonite.
